Weighted Automata: Theory and Applications
October 4–7, 2023, Leipzig, Germany
The workshop covers all aspects of weighted automata, ranging from the theory of weighted automata and quantitative logics to applications for real-time systems and natural language processing. The aim is to present tutorials and survey lectures by outstanding scientists in this area. We invite everybody to participate in this workshop without fee and to present their own technical contributions in this area.

Call for Participation
Interested participants are most welcome. If you wish to present a technical contribution, please send an abstract (preferably of at most one page) by September 1, 2023 to wata2023@informatik.uni-leipzig.de. These contributions do not count as publications; submission of relevant, already published or submitted results is allowed. Authors will be informed about acceptance of their submissions by September 8, 2023. We plan to accept contributions close to their submission date.
Call for Papers
We secured a special issue of Information and Computation on the topics of this workshop. Participation at WATA 2023 is encouraged, but is not a prerequisite for a submission. Submissions can be either original research papers or surveys. All submissions will be refereed according to the usual high journal standards.
Authors are asked to submit their contribution via the standard publisher platform Editorial Manager for the special issue VSI:WATA 2023. Preferably please also send a PDF to each of the two editors of the special issue.

Registration & Financial Support
The registration deadline is September 15, 2023. There is no registration fee. In order to register, please send your name, affiliation, e-mail address, intended length of participation to wata2023@informatik.uni-leipzig.de and state if you want to attend the conference dinner (not for free) or not.
There are limited resources to partially compensate the travel expenses of participating Ph.D. students and young scientists. Please, contact us by September 1, 2023 at wata2023@informatik.uni-leipzig.de to give us enough time to make a fair decision.

The workshop will start on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 9am and will close with lunch on Saturday, October 7, 2023.You can find the time table of the scientific programme here.
Informal Get-Together & Conference Dinner
On Tuesday, October 3, 2023 (public holiday), starting at 7pm, there will be an informal get-together at Barfusz, Markt 9 (directly at Barfussgässchen next to the old market).
Our conference dinner is planned for Friday, October 6, 2023 starting at 7pm at Ratskeller, Neues Rathaus Leipzig, Lotterstraße 1 (map).

Single and double rooms cost 99 and 119 euros per night, respectively, including breakfast. These rates also include free tickets for public transit for the duration of your stay. Travel Information
From Airport Leipzig-Halle there is an Airport Express operated by Deutsche Bahn and regional trains in a 30-minutes-cycle (26 and 52 minutes on the hour). The journey lasts 12 or 16 minutes (for S5 X and S5, respectively) and the fare is 5,40 Euro. You can purchase tickets directly at the train station or online via DB (choose from "Leipzig/Halle Flughafen" to "Leipzig Hbf").
There are taxi stands in front of Terminal B at the airport and in the city center of Leipzig, e.g., in front of the main railway station. The travel from the airport to the city center takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately 50 Euros.
