Use the dictionary offline / Cài đặt để dùng khi không nối mạng
Chương trình từ điển này được viết để sử dụng trên mạng. Người dùng có thể tải về cài đặt trên máy cá nhân hoặc một máy chủ của mạng nội bộ để dùng khi không nối mạng Internet. Tuy vậy, việc cài đặt chương trình đòi hỏi một số kiến thức tin học nhất định.
Nếu bạn chỉ cần một phiên bản gọn nhẹ, dễ cài đặt của từ điển Anh-Việt, Pháp-Việt hay Đức-Việt, bạn có thể cài đặt từ điển dành cho MobiPocket Reader trên máy tính của bạn. Các từ điển này còn có lợi thế nữa là có thể sử dụng trên các thiết bị cầm tay như PPC, Palm hay điện thoại di động.

Nếu các từ điển cho MobiPocket Reader nói trên không đáp ứng đủ nhu cầu sử dụng của bạn, bạn có thể cài đặt chương trình từ điển cho Web trên máy cá nhân như sau:
- If you use Windows, download TuDienHND_Win32.exe (2.2 MB). Double-click on that file to extract the content to a directory. You may choose the default and install the dictionary in
C:\TuDienHND\. If you use Unix, download TuDienHND_Unix.zip (0.3 MB) and extract it to an appropriate directory, e.g., ~/TuDienHND/
- Run the script
setup.bat (on Windows) or setup_unix.bat (on Unix), the following window should appear:
The first line is checked (x) indicating that the current version of the dictionary has been downloaded, but none of the dictionaries is available locally. To install a dictionary please click the corresponding "Install" button to the right. For example, we install the English-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-English dictionaries. On the console you will se if the download was successfull.
In this case everything goes well. We now have 2 dictionaries installed. On the setup screen these dictionaries are cheched (x):
If the setup program cannot download the data files (because of Firewall settings, slow connections etc.) you
need to download and install the data files manually.
- Click the button "Start" to start the server.
- Start a Web browser like Netscape or Internet Explorer and open the address
http://localhost:8080. You will be able to use the dictionaries
- When you are done, click the "Quit" button to stop the program. You can start the startup script at any time to add dictionaries, to update the program etc.
- (Windows NT/XP only) If you want the program to start automatically when booting Windows, click the button "Setup". A Windows service will be installed.
The next time you can use the dictionary without the need to start it.
Manual installation of the data files: Download any of
the following dictionaries and extract them to the folder TuDienHND.
AnhViet.zip, VietAnh.zip,
PhapViet.zip, VietPhap.zip,
DucViet.zip, VietDuc.zip,
NaUyViet.zip, VietViet.zip,
NgaViet.zip,
Foldoc.zip, WordNet.zip
Make sure that the extracted data are in subdirectories of TuDienHND\data.
For example, TuDienHND\data\EV will contain files like vietanh.dict.dz
Configuring the dictionary server
If you want to change the appearance of the output (font face,
size, color etc.), you can edit the template result.html.
See the file result2.html for an example. Basically, you
can edit the following style elements: dict (the name of
the dictionary), def (the word definition),
pos (the part.of-speech of a word), ex (sample
usage), trans (translation of the example),
idioms (list of idioms), idiom (idiomatic
use). Moreover, you can include a background image for the page,
or add some links or images to the output of the program.
Trouble-shooting
If you have trouble to get the program running, please consult our FAQ first. If you still cannot find
the solution to your problem there, please use our
forum to post your questions (Please be as specific as possible:
what is the problem? what have you downloaded? what have been done? how is your directory
structure look like? what is the output when starting the program? etc.)
About the program
The databases are in the format used by the DICT protocol, i.e., they can be used
with a DICT server. Some
index files may need resorting because the server implementations of
the DICT protocol do not use the correct collation sequences for the languages in question
for searching.
Our dictionary program is extensible. It can use any dictionary database in
DICT format (e.g., WordNet,
Free Online Dictionary of Computing, or the free bilingual dictionaries
on www.freedict.de).
That is, you can download any dictionary of interest, write a
2-lines ini file to tell the program where to find the new dictionary,
and run the server with that dictionary. Moreover, you can
create your own dictionaries
with the tools provided and use them with the program.
There is also a version for Palm OS
and WindowsCE/PocketPC.
